Accessible via the entrance of the Saint-Gerard-des-Laurentides sector of the La Mauricie National Park, this domain is the host of a large lodge “Le Wabenaki” and a smaller one “Le Andrew”. These log cabins are the remains of a former private hunting and fishing club at the beginning of the century which welcomed wealthy Americans such as the famous Kennedy family.
Now converted into the “welcoming large chalet” style, you will find rooms like dormitories with bunk beds, an interesting “low-cost stay” formula.
You will be able to use canoes and kayaks on the La Pêche lake as you please and go for a swim. You could also go hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing during the winter. For the fishing enthusiasts, it is possible to cast your line by purchasing a daily permit. Fishing is also permitted at Lake Parker (beautiful falls), a 2.2 km walk round trip.
GOOD TO KNOW TIPS: The domain isn’t accessible by car. Via the parking lot, you will have to take a 3.5 km path which includes some steep climbs. You have a lot of luggage or you are travelling with younger kids or the elderly? Info-Nature offers a shuttle service (in the summer season only) upon reservation at least 48 hours in advance.
You should also know that there is always a guard on site, day and night. He’s there to answer your questions and ensure the smooth running of your stay.
