This charming neo-Romanesque church built in 1924 is now a National Historic Site of Canada. It contains within its walls the last major project carried out by the painter Ozias Leduc who undertook this project in 1942 at the age of 77! A dominant figure in sacred art in Canada, nicknamed the Michelangelo of Quebec, Ozias devoted the last 13 years of his life to this fascinating work.
You can admire the fifteen large paintings of Ozias which have the particularity of integrating profane scenes alongside sacred subjects. We suggest the interactive audio guide visit including a tablet and headphones featuring Gabrielle Messier, Ozias Leduc’s assistant, who will show you around the place by revealing the secrets of this great painter.
Don’t forget to watch the short film “Réalité virtuelle : Poésie de l’âme à l’œuvre” immersing you in the heart of the painter’s intimate reflections on art. A supernatural journey in 3D and in 360 DEGREES highlighting the works of Ozias Leduc, his memories and his philosophy.
One of the few churches in Quebec to offer a fascinating guided tour punctuated by tasty anecdotes, augmented reality. Don’t miss the opportunity to see a show there, the acoustics are amazing.
