The Shawinigan Cataractes organization, created in 1969, is the oldest franchise of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Over the years, many players went on to have a brilliant career after wearing the Cité de l'énergie's team jersey. The highlight of the team's history is the conquest of the prestigious Memorial Cup trophy in 2012, the most prestigious award in Canadian junior hockey.
