You\u2019ll lose track of time. Don&#8217;t be surprised if you get on the boat at 9 a.m., if at 1:30 p.m. you haven&#8217;t even felt hungry yet. The soothing sound of the wind will reconnect you with your inner self. A key figure in the town\u2019s history, this waterway offers amazing views to boating and sailing enthusiasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>The navigable basins of the Saint-Maurice River in Shawinigan<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Its main basin offers 70 km round trip, from the Grand-M\u00e8re bridge to the Rapides Manigance located between Saint-Roch-de-M\u00e9kinac and the mouth of the Mattawin River. All types of boats can circulate with the guarantee of always having enough water in this sector. Before reaching the Rapides Manigances, a sign clearly indicates that it\u2019s dangerous to venture further since there are several shoals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; In the downtown sector, you\u2019ll find a smaller basin between the Shawinigan dams and the Rapides des H\u00eatres, representing a 12 km round-trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; From the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/DuRY5V2T8X4ab3Uy6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">launching ramp on Avenue du Beau-Rivage<\/a>, you\u2019ll still have the possibility of navigating 12 km round-trip between the Rapides des H\u00eatres and the Grand-M\u00e8re dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>The main marinas on the Saint-Maurice River<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/en\/venue\/marina-de-grand-mere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/en\/venue\/marina-de-grand-mere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marina de Grand-M\u00e8re<\/a>, inaugurated in 2019, offers quality infrastructures and services that make it one of the most beautiful and comfortable marinas in Quebec with its 99 docks, including 10 docks for passing visitors. The recreational tourism complex, adjacent to the marina, includes an exceptional waterfront park, the Parc des Papetiers, a public chalet, parking and paved walkways. It\u2019s possible to enjoy a superb view from the top of the tower located in the park (149 steps). The marina offers breathtaking views of two heritage sites: the suspension bridge (1928) and the Grand-M\u00e8re hydroelectric power station (1916). The site and its architecture, rich in their industrial heritage linked to the paper industry, include large green spaces. This multifunctional park is an invitation to boaters and other users.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the Saint-Jean-des-Piles sector, you\u2019ll find several marinas and boat ramps.<ul><li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.info-marina.ca\/en\/explore\/lakes-and-rivers-43\/riviere-saint-maurice-49\/parc-nautique-saint-jean-des-piles-195\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parc nautique Saint-Jean-des-Piles<\/a> (rue Morin) offers several services on site with its 70 docks, including 10 for visitors. Perfect for refueling or stopping at the nautical convenience store located close by. You can simply launch for the day from this marina (charged);<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.info-marina.ca\/fr\/explore\/lacs-et-rivieres-43\/riviere-saint-maurice-49\/marina-du-quai-415\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marina du Quai<\/a>, rue du Quai (charged);<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.info-marina.ca\/en\/explore\/lakes-and-rivers-43\/riviere-saint-maurice-49\/marina-gelinas-415\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Boat launch at the Quai municipal Michel-L\u00e9pine,<\/a> rue du Quai (free).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_2096-sd-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1828\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_2096-sd-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_2096-sd-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_2096-sd-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_2096-sd.jpg 1333w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In downtown Shawinigan, there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/ilemelville.com\/marina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">marina at Parc de l&#8217;\u00cele-Melville<\/a> with about 60 places for medium-sized boats. There are also a few docks available for visitors and a boat launch.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/KA14qteT6B3KvXh18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rapides-des-H\u00eatres road launching ramp<\/a> (free);<\/li><li>Pssst! In the Shawinigan-Sud sector, on Chemin de la Berge, there\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/wQDUUYvBYsxULZgNA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">boat launch adapted for people with reduced mobility<\/a> (free).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We love<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you navigate around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourismeshawinigan.com\/en\/venue\/parc-national-de-la-mauricie-lete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La Mauricie National Park<\/a>, you\u2019ll be rapt by the great outdoors.
