Shawinigan river park

  • The Shawinigan river park is a hidden gem that offers a great picnic area and two easy-access, free trails: A 6 km round-trip multifunctional bike path, perfect for cycling, walking, or running. The Thibodeau-Ricard Trail, which is even stroller-friendly!

  • This natural escape is perfect year-round:
Spring – Watch the waterfalls come to life as the snow melts.
Summer – Enjoy a jogging-friendly route with gentle hills for a fun challenge. Cyclists will love it too!
Winter – Hit the well-maintained cross-country ski trails for a scenic winter adventure.

  • The picnic area, conveniently located near Highway 55, Exit 217, is a great spot to relax or enjoy a snack.

  • A trail with history—The Thibodeau-Ricard Trail, part of the park, follows the river all the way to Baie de Shawinigan. Along the way, you’ll find remnants of old dams and even one of the first seismographs ever installed in North America—a must-see for history lovers!
