Located in downtown Shawinigan, along the Saint-Maurice River, this cultural center invites you to discover the culture and arts of the First Nations. Its very place is rich in meaning: it is the place where the Atikamekw rested before undertaking the wood carrying on the river.
Their exposition Nikanik – Empreinte des pensionnats Autochtones, presents work of various artists as well as interpretation panels related to events and history with complementary information via QR codes.
There is also a diversified program with free monthly activities, animations and group activities for everyone like their fun beading activity. An excellent way to learn without the clichés and prejudices.
You can buy first nation souvenirs and dream catcher production kits at the boutique.
PLEASE NOTE: the schedule may vary. We suggest that you contact the center to confirm their business hours.
