The logs were still floating on the Saint-Maurice river when the Cité de l’énergie made its appearance in Shawinigan landscape on June 21st, 1997. Since then, it has highlighted the exploits of our builders. It has restored the letters of nobility to our past and allowed us to have faith in the future. A must in Shawi!
We eat well here and the best beer in the world rests in local barrels. Of course, everyone knows the Trou du diable Microbrewery, but Broadway Microbrewery produces such delectable beers. What about the restaurants in Carré Willow and Sainte-Flore? Gourmets like me are pampered!
Yes, I have a bias, as I’m the coach of this improvisation team. Nevertheless, I have a front row seat to contemplate the creativity and keen sense of repartee of our collegiate team.
Led by an experienced coach, this football team puts on quite a show on the pitch. Each home game is an unmissable festive event. The team won almost every game at home last season.
Several major events are scattered in Shawinigan’s cultural calendar. But I would like to put this one under the spotlight. Since it’ll be particularly important in 2022 as they are celebrating their 80th anniversary. Furthermore, it’s one of the most beautiful natural sites in Quebec.
My heart is particularly attached to our beautiful river. I love tubing down the Hêtres rapids, relaxing in the natural spa on Lovers’ Island and watching the fireworks on the water with my family.
