I love hiking this very accessible 3.2km trail along the Shawinigan river. It is a great place to enjoy some quiet time and tune out. The remains of hydroelectric dams testify of Shawinigan’s industrial past.

Many trails are accessible all year long, from beginner to advanced. I appreciate when floodgates are opened, so I can contemplate the falls – once called “Niagara of the East” – and enjoy this wooded area close to my home.

Trou du diable – Microbrewery, boutique and salon

Ma favorite beer is – by far – the Blanche de Shawi. I regularly go to the boutique to stock up my fridge. The staff is really nice, courteous and knows what they are talking about: beer! They know everything there is to know about beer and will be happy to advise you on the products available in store. Stop there before you go back home!

Assured addiction!! As soon as I cross the threshold, the comforting smells make my mouth water. More specifically, my sin is the chocolatine (chocolate croissant): it tastes like heaven. It is to die for!

Casse-Croûte Le Gourmand

In my opinion, it’s the best poutine in town. My boyfriend and I go there regularly to enjoy their poutine. The portion is generous. Definitely a must for poutine lovers.
