You, the foodie who likes to enjoy simple moments as a couple, and chose to come to Shawinigan for a few days: GOOD PICK! Let me be your personal guide and suggest my favorites in order to make your stay memorable.

MY PERSONAL FAVORITES

For my partner and I, a romantic weekend in Shawi in winter means comfort food, good beer, and winter sports! We love taking advantage of the inviting restaurants and cafes of Shawi, but also our fabulous National Park and ski center.

AND THE DREAM STAY STARTS HERE…

Jules Fromages et Convives

In the Sainte-Flore sector

I invite you to start your weekend in the landmark of epicureans, the Sainte-Flore sector, by booking a table at Jules Fromages et Convives. You will enjoy the wood-fired oven and the warm atmosphere of this little bistro… If it’s on the menu, don’t hesitate to order the pesto, prosciutto, honey and goat cheese pizza… My mouth is watering just from thinking about it!

Grille-Pain du Coin

My neighborhood bakery

Saturday morning, stop for breakfast at Le Grille-Pain bakery! It’s warm, it smells good, you can drink a coffee there and work or read a book. I 1000% recommend their white chocolate and coconut brioche made on Fridays. They call it a bread but oh no, it’s a real brioche! Pure happiness…

Vallée du Parc

Skiing as a couple

Then, head to Vallée du Parc to fill up on sensations! This ski station is easily accessible and perfect for enjoying a few descents on skis, snowboard, or alpine sled. After skiing, you can warm up in the Resto-Bar 360 by the fireplace, drinking a good beer or having a good dinner with local flavors.

Pacini

Brunch downtown

Sunday morning, let’s go fuel up before going to La Mauricie National Park! I really like going to Pacini, located on the Promenade du Saint-Maurice, for a brunch as a couple or with friends, and enjoying the bread bar. The breakfast plates are perfect, but the cod in a crust is delicious too!

La Mauricie National Park

Snowshoeing or cross-country skiing

The day continues in La Mauricie National Park with a hike along marked trails. You can practice cross-country skiing over 80 km, as well as snowshoeing over 54 km. A walk of about an hour and a half is generally perfect for me and my husband, but it is possible to spend the whole day there and even to camp there.

Last epicurean stop

Aux Traditions or 2800 du Parc

If possible, I advise you to have dinner at Aux Traditions Restaurant in the Saint-Jean-des-Piles sector (limited availability in the winter season), to combine the outdoors and the flavors of the Balkans! Otherwise, stop at 2800 du Parc to relax with a delicious Mauricie gin while enjoying the incredible view of the river. Enjoy your stay in Shawi!
