Camping Season in Shawinigan

By France St-Amant

Camping in nature, near a lake or in the heart of the city, everything is possible in Shawinigan. With its 1,377 campsites and several ready-to-camp sites, whether you’re with your family, in a group, alone or as a couple, with your tent, your trailer, your motorhome or even nothing at all, you’ll certainly find an option adapted to your expectations.

Psst! Don’t delay to book. Camping is very popular in Shawi!

On an island in nature in the heart of the city

The Parc de l’Île-Melville campground is conveniently located. You’ll have the impression of being in nature and you’ll be near the Saint-Maurice River or directly on its shore. When you’ll want to immerse yourself in the city life, you’ll only be 600 meters walk away. You’ll then have access to shops, cafes, pastry shop and bakery, and to a nice choice of restaurants.

Psst! In addition, you’ll have access to a large choice of activities on site or nearby, on land or on the water.

In the calm of nature

If you prefer to retreat a little further in the heart of nature, I suggest the campgrounds and oTENTiks of La Mauricie National Park or Camping Douce Évasion in the Saint-Jean-des-Piles sector.

Psst! Take the opportunity to go for a walk on the trails and observe the surroundings, you’ll certainly see animals. Nope ? So, book an expedition to meet black bears, moose or bald eagles in the St-Jean-des Piles sector! Go ahead … Nothing’s better than sleeping outside!

More activities and entertainment

You’re coming with your family, and you want activities to move around and stretch your kids’ legs? Choose Camping Rouillard in the Lac-à-la-Tortue sector or Camping du Parc in St-Mathieu-du-Parc.

We love

  • Camping Rouillard: you’ll have access to Lac-à-la-Tortue and you can rent watercraft to go for a ride on the water. At sunset, it’s truly breathtaking!
  • Camping du parc: you’ll have access to a beach, splash pads and a swimming pool at your disposal to cool off.

For the view

I definitely recommend Camping Nature Nature in the St-Jean-des-Piles sector. It’s overlooking the road with a superb view of the Saint-Maurice River.

Psst! If you’d like to have a little more comfort, try their micro-refuges or cabins.

For the beautiful beach

At the Camping et Plage Baie-Martin, you’ll have access to one of the most beautiful beaches in Shawinigan on one of the most beautiful lakes in Quebec, Lac des Piles. The water is breathtakingly clear!

Psst! Bring your paddle board, canoe or kayak and be sure to go for a ride on the water.

We love

Ready-to-camp or cabins available at most campgrounds.
