I love the four seasons but especially winter, and I love Shawinigan! The fifty different nationalities who reside here allow us to have a great diversity of restaurants and food products. This is happiness for epicureans like us!

We’re off to the Parc de l’Ile Melville! In crampons or snowshoes, I recommend the 6 km (or almost) hike in the company of the great woodpecker, with a view of the Saint-Maurice River. You must stop in front of the magnificent falls for a selfie and before leaving!
PSST! Dogs are allowed.
After the great outdoors, what could be better than a good Blanche de Shawi or a beer tasting at the Trou du Diable microbrewery? Accompanied by salty tortillons, olives and chips, just enough to keep us waiting until supper.
For dinner, book a table at the Indian restaurant of Shawi, where you can bring your own wine. Make sure to ask for a table near the windows with a view of the Cité de l’énergie and the Saint-Maurice River. I suggest you order different dishes to share, including butter chicken and lamb korma.
PSST! Discover the beautiful story of the owner couple of the Taj Mahal restaurant.
Now, it’s time to go cross-country skiing at La Mauricie National Park, taking the Saint-Jean-des-Piles entrance. Trail #3, categorized as easy, is perfect for a day out with friends. In 5 km, you arrive at the chalet Isaïe. You can take a snack break on the benches behind the chalet before continuing for 4.5 km. Have lunch at the chalet La Pêche, and warm up by the wood stove before retracing your steps. Total: 19km.
PSST!The ski conditions are updated daily on the park’s website.
For dinner, I recommend Santé Taouk, in the Shawinigan-Sud sector, for some Lebanese cuisine. Generously garnished by Ramez, your plate of shish taouk will include rice, potatoes, two choices of salads, naan bread and a few sides. You’ll smell like garlic for three days, but you’ll still want some!
PSST!A little beer with that? A few minutes from the Santé Taouk, La Chope Bières Québécoises offers a wide selection of microbrewery beers.
